DALLAS, TX

Monroe Shops was built in 1914 as a facility for the Texas Electric Railway to repair, maintain, and build Interurban trolley cars.  DART is currently renovating the NRHP-listed building as the DART Police Headquarters. The renovation, which is also attempting LEED Silver certification, will not only bring the building back to life after a long hiatus, but add sustainable value to the neighborhood, and return Monroe Shops to its original transportation mission.

project status : UNDER CONSTRUCTION
